To walk in authority we must understand our enemy’s past, present, and future. Yes, he is deceitful, tactical, smart, and powerful. But he is also defeated and has been disarmed by Jesus Christ. That’s why we do not fight for victory; we fight from the position of victory.
In the famous passage about spiritual warfare, Paul says to put on “the whole armor of God to withstand in the evil day and having done all, to stand” (Ephesians 6:11, 13). The goal of our spiritual armor is not to get the victory, but to stand in the victory that has already been won for us. Paul is writing to believers who are not trying to gain victory by wearing spiritual armor but are standing in the victory that is already theirs in Christ Jesus.
Stand in the victory of Christ. Put on the armor of God so that you can stand on what Jesus has already won for you. The devil will be defeated again and again as we go from glory to glory, from victory to victory.
