_Key Bible Text:_
*"Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”*
(Matthew 5:6 (KJV))

_Bible Insight:_
The gift of righteousness which God gives is one that comes with capacity to walk in righteousness. It is a gift that births in its beneficiary the hunger to walk in righteousness. *For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.* (Philippians 2:13 (KJV))

This hunger for righteousness comes from the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness. Once you receive Jesus as Lord and saviour, your hunger for the word begins to develop. You become equipped to long for righteousness and to do the things that respond to that hunger accordingly. This is called walking in the Spirit. When we walk in the Spirit, we respond to the fulfilment of righteousness. *"That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."* Romans 8:4 (KJV)

At the moment we become born again, we are born by the Spirit, for the word of Jesus, is Spirit and life. And since *"the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you."* Romans 8:11 (KJV)

So this quickening of our mortal bodies, is what John 1:12 (KJV), described as *"power to become the sons of God"* This is power to live as *"his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."* Ephesians 2:10 (KJV)

As a result of this, there is no excuse for sin. We are imbued with a gift for righteousness and abundance of grace, that pumps a desire for righteousness and a hatred for sin. Not only that, we are recreated to live above sin, in line with the Spirit of God.

*Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.* (Romans 8:12-14 (KJV))

*For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;* (Titus 2:11-12 (KJV))
